The long anticipated Youth Workshop, commences today, 15th April 2013. The training workshop named, Ýouth as agents of Peace', targets youth leaders from East African region. About 40 young people have arrived at the venue with enthusiasm to learn from each other and share experiences. Among them is Kenya National Youth Coordinator, Rev. Fr. Adrian Ireri and Uganda National Youth Coordinator,Madam Joyce Zako.
According to AMECEA Justice and Peace Coordinator, Rev. Fr. Jude Waweru; "Youths as agents of peace" is an effort to tap the full
energies and potential of the youth and ultimately changing them from being
agents of conflicts into being agents of peace. It is an effort geared towards
instilling a culture of peace and drastically changing the attitudes of the
youths.'" He also added that being agents of peace means that the representatives will carry out the
message of peace to their fellow youths in their respective countries
particularly around the general elections.
The training is taking place at Donum Dei Missionaries, Karen, Nairobi will be held the whole of this week, from 15th - 19th April 2013. The desk hopes to extend it to other AMECEA countries gradually.
we hope the training workshop, will tap the youths
potential in beings instruments of peace within their countries,and will help the youths to contribute and work towards peace, especially during the often turbulent general elections, or similar political events in their countries.
