Africa is one continent that is endowed with many
beautiful things that makes it the most beautiful continent of the world . It
is rich in culture diversity, rich in natural resources hospitality of its
people not to mention the conducive whether and beautiful tourist sceneries. However
the continent continues to ravish in extreme poverty with more that 40% of the
people living below the poverty line. Majority of the people living in extreme
poverty are concentrated in Eastern Africa (which forms the AMECEA Region) and Central Africa. In the last few years,
media reports had indicated that most of the African countries had recorded a
remarkable growth in the economy but the sad thing is that the life of the
people does not change and the continent remains the most underdeveloped
continent in the world.
Many people in African countries (approximately 70
%) live in rural areas and depend heavily on Agriculture both for food and
livelihood development in Agriculture has been decreasing over the years and
therefore they practice indigenous farming that does not produce enough to
sustain them until the next rain harvest season.
Diseases are some of the most common causes of
poverty in Africa. The continent has
been struck by incurable and curable diseases such as HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis,
Malaria, cancer etc that mostly infects people who are in the productive age
leading to premature deaths or slowing them down that they cannot do anything
meaningful with their lives. Access to proper and quality medication is a
challenge especially because medication is very expensive and unaffordable for
low income class. This results to many people seeking services of unqualified
herbalists or traditionists who milk them the little resources they have and
provide no solution.
Africa is rich in Natural resources and currently
even more natural resources are being discovered in many parts of the
continent. These resources are meant to improve the livelihood of the people as
well as boost the economy. Unfortunately, poor management of these resources
only helps to widen the gap between the poor and the rich. The rich who can
afford the land where the resources are will always buy the land and evict the
poor land owners without following the law or proper compensation.
Political tide that keeps fluctuating leading to
unnecessary wars and conflict is another problem that characterizes Africa. Africa
is engulfed by leaders who are selfish and power hungry who do not have the
country at heart.
However all these challenges can be overcome/ solved
using African brewed solutions.
