MALAWI GETS A NEW PRESIDENT

Malawi gets a New President

AMECEA participated in the monitoring of the electoral process in the Republic of Malawi which culminated in the ushering in of a new leadership. Our past experience regarding general elections in our countries has been the basis of fear of conflicts every time a country is going through this process. As such through this forum, AMECEA appealed to the people of the region and indeed the world to pray for the people of Malawi to have free, fair and peaceful elections. Without belaboring the few hitches that rocked the process, we now thank God that we have new leaders in Malawi in a peaceful way.

With the new leadership in place, the people of Malawi are full of expectations in the growth and development of the country and the peoples. The hope of real change and new ways of doing things is tremendous. This hope cannot be sustained by the mere euphoria of new leadership, but by the service delivery every person in Malawi hopes for. Many times this hope quickly dwindles after the elections on account of poor performance at the altar of corruption and self-interests that have plagued our African countries.

As we pray for the people of Malawi that the happiness that is still glowing in their hearts may be sustained through good governance based on the good political will, we pray also for our other countries that find it hard to enjoy a peaceful co-existence and full realization. Lest we forget, we are still praying for our dear brothers and sisters in South Sudan.

God Bless Africa!
Our Lady Queen of Africa-  Pray for us
