AMECEA Sends a Message of Solidarity to the victims of Westgate attack

AMECEA sent a solidarity message to Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) following the attack of a shopping mall in Nairobi that killed may people and left others injured.

In the letter that was addressed to the Chairman of the Conference, His Eminence John Cardinal Njue, the Secretary General of AMECEA on behalf of the Chairman Most Rev. Ziyaye, conveyed a message of condolence and solidarity to His Eminence, the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops, the people of Kenya and especially the families that lost their dear ones, the victims of the attack and those who lost their properties.

“We join the Church in Kenya in condemning this act of terrorism and commend the Government of Kenya in its commitment to relentlessly work towards building a peaceful society and ensure the security of all citizens” the letter said in part.

Kenya is among the nine member countries of AMECEA which is a Bishops' Regional conference of which Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) is a member
