AMECEA JUSTICE AND PEACE TAKES PART IN AN ANNUAL PLANNING MEETING BY CAFOD.

AMECEA Justice and Peace Desk participated in a 3 days annual planning meeting which was organized by CAFOD. The meeting which took place between 25th and 27th brought together partners who are implementing Justice and Peace and Action for Better governance (ABG) projects on a round table meeting with a view of building synergies and promote learning. Partners, who were drawn from Justice and Peace regional and national offices in Kenya and Uganda, were able to develop new strategies on how to advocate for peace building and better governance. They were also able to identify their strength in the work; Map out their allies and barriers and ways to lift the barriers.

The participants were urged to be committed to their projects so that they can yield the anticipated change. The forum provided an opportunity where participants learned  best practices from one another. They were urged to be realistic in terms of their level of intervention and be clear in the model they use for them to remain relevant and be able to measure their level of contribution or attribution to the positive outcome of the projects they are undertaking.

Peter Kiama who was among the facilitators during the meeting insisted on the importance of documenting the change but cautioned that method of documentation should be selected wisely as not all methods would work for all projects and some methods may exceed the projects  budget.

According to Laureta Madegwa of CAFOD, the participants are not just the voice of reason and change but the voice of the church in the matters related to Justice and Peace in the region. Laureta reminded the participants that they will be measured by the change they will have brought about at the end of the projects which are ending in the year 2016.

AMECEA Justice and Peace was represented by Fr. Jude Waweru who is the Desk Coordinator and Pauline Wakibiru who is the Administrative Secretary.
