AMECEA HOLDS A STRATEGIC PASTORAL PLAN WORKSHOP

AMECEA has organized a workshop for Strategic Pastoral Plan.  The workshop which started today, 22 October 2013, has representation from all AMECEA countries except Eritrea and it is taking place in Nairobi, Limuru.

The participation of the workshop has been drawn from Justice and Peace Commission, Pastoral and lay apostolate, Social Communications commission, Caritas, the Secretaries General and the Vice Chancellors of Catholic institutions of the AMECEA countries among others.

In his welcome remarks, the Secretary General, Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Lugonzo thanked the participants for accepting to come and be part of the planning team for the Ten Year Strategic Plan and invited everyone to be part of this noble task and contribute generously.

“During the last AMECEA Plenary, the Bishops charged the AMECEA Secretariat with the responsibility of developing a comprehensive Ten Year Pastoral Plan.” The Secretary General said.  “The plan must include a theological framework of addressing key issues and challenges of New Evangelization in Solidarity in the AMECEA Countries.” He added.

The Secretary General said that he hoped a copy of the draft Strategic Pastoral Plan shall be circulated to the entire member Conferences and that after receiving feedback from them; the final Draft shall be drawn and presented to the AMECEA Executive Board in March. When the executive board approves, the document will be presented for approval to the 18th AMECEA Plenary in July 2014 which will be held in Malawi.

The workshop will be concluded tomorrow, 23 October 2013, with a session of action plans.
